Artist Statement
Simplicity is a quality that provides the most delight when cherished. My art illustrates this idea through plainness, imprecision, and vibrant colors – inspired by the mundane and extraordinary alike. I balance my desire for simplicity with the subjects that interest me. My passion for tradition is concentrated within the visual arts, giving me a creative means of articulation and extension.
Bio
Tiffany Jordan is a visual artist based in Houston, Texas. She is focused on capturing the beauty of people and everyday life through fun and colorful naive-style art. Her work illustrates the power of simplicity through imprecision, flatness, and light-hearted subjects inspired by the mundane and extraordinary alike. Tiffany's artistic lineage can be traced back to artists such as: Horace Pippin (United States), June Beer (Nicaragua), and Vincent van Gogh (Netherlands), encompassing their bold use of color and determination as self-taught artists.
Learning art through self-study has helped her maintain an unorthodox attitude towards creativity. She creates to explore her interests, document what captures her attention, and to reflect on life, allowing her work to be a mirror and metaphor of herself. This sets her free from seeking elaborate titles, ultimately granting her freedom to create works that are lively and natural. Each picture serves as proof that she has maintained her enthusiasm for life!
